Parent Voice
Horndon-on-the-Hill C. of E. Parent Voice
The aim of ‘Parent Voice’ is to help parents become more involved with their child’s education and learning. Our Parent Voice acts to support both the school and parents, to represent parent views and forge links with the wider community. We welcome parents as active participants in the life of the school and Parent Voice provides an opportunity for parents to express their views and wishes.
Role of ‘Parent Voice’ is to:
• Work in partnership with staff to create a welcoming school which is inclusive for all parents.
• Promote partnership between the school, its pupils and all its parents.
• To identify and represent the views of parents on the education provided by the school and other matters affecting the education and welfare of the pupils.
• Welcoming new parents to the routines and everyday life at Horndon school.
Meetings
Drop-in sessions or coffee mornings are provided for parents to meet with a Parent Voice representative to share and discuss their views. Any items discussed at these forums will form the agenda for the following Parent Voice meeting. For parents unable to attend drop-in sessions or find a convenient time to talk to a representative, their views are still welcomed by emailing Parent Voice (parentvoice@horndon-on-the-hill.thurrock.sch.uk).
Meetings take place with Parent Voice members and the nominated representative of the school’s senior leadership team (Ms Voss). A member of the Governing Body will also be invited to attend, on occasions, to feedback to the Governing Body. Updates will be shared on the school’s newsletter and also listed on the school website- Parent Voice meetings' page. Use of a Parent Voice FB group also aims to ensure all parents are kept informed and updated.
Pupil Voice Representatives
Each class has a parent representative to attend meetings to share parent’s views and suggestions. Reps are nominated by Class Teachers; members of the Parent Voice Team cannot invite new members as this must be done via the school.
Details of this group are also displayed on the notice board in the school’s main reception.
